Šipon
Furmint is the oldest grape of our region. It is quite certain it came to our places hundreds of years ago. Local name – Šipon (“sheepon”) was obtained when French soldiers while occupying these places were tasting it and commenting: “Mhmm, c’est si bon”.
Vintage 2018 displays pale lemon-yellow color and delicate nose where floral notes reminiscent of flowering vineyard, are accompanied by classic Furmint notes of ripe pears and yellow apples. Very fine, juicy and inviting.
It is dry, acidities in this year are moderate, body is lighter. Mineral, even salty notes are more expressed on the palate. Surprisingly intense and persistent for a light bodied wine. It is hard to imagine a better aperitif wine. After vintage 2016, this is yet another classic Furmint from our winery.
